Dog Show Near Puttur: Mangalore Championship Show, Nov 21-22

How far do Puttur visitors travel to reach Mangalore?

About 50 km by road (approximate). Mangalore is north-west of Puttur, and both are in Dakshina Kannada district. This is the longest trip among the Mangalore town guides within the same district, so plan it as a full outing.

Day trip or overnight from Puttur?

Both work. A day trip is possible if you leave Puttur early and stay for a few rings. If you plan to show a dog on Saturday and Sunday, an overnight stay in Mangalore saves a second long journey and keeps your dog calmer than two early starts.

Book lodging only once you know the ground. The venue is not yet listed, so wait to confirm it before you pay for a room near a specific ground.

How should exhibitors from Puttur travel with a dog?

Use a crate or a secure harness and give your dog a break after the first hour. Carry water and a bowl, and ask the club which documents it wants to see. Ask about benching and grooming space too.

Do not leave a dog in a parked vehicle in the heat, even for a few minutes.

Can I enter a dog from Puttur?

Entry goes through Karavali Canine Club, and the KCI listing sets out no entry rules. The closing date is not listed and may already have passed. Call the secretary on the number in the event guide to ask whether entries are still open.

What do Puttur visitors need to decide first?

• Whether you will come back the same day or stay in Mangalore for the Sunday
• The venue and start time, from the club secretary, before you commit to travel of about 50 km (approximate)
• Where your dog will rest if you are an exhibitor
• What you need to carry for a day that is likely to be long

What do the Bantwal and Udupi guides add?

Bantwal is about 25 km east of Mangalore (approximate) and suits a morning visit. Udupi is about 60 km to the north and is the town named in the club secretary’s address. Both guides cover this same show, with their own planning notes.

Which breed suits a family with children?

Look for breeds with a steady temperament and patience with children, and read each breed guide for size and exercise needs. A show lets you watch dogs behave around crowds and noise. Teach children to ask the handler before touching a dog, and never choose a puppy on looks alone.
