Dog Show Near Karkala: Mangalore Championship Show, Nov 21-22

What is the distance from Karkala to the Mangalore show?

About 45 km by road (approximate), heading south-west. Karkala is in Udupi district and Mangalore is in Dakshina Kannada district, so you cross a district line on the way. Karkala is known for its Gomateshwara statue, but the show is in Mangalore and not on the Karkala side.

Does the club’s Udupi address put the show near Karkala?

The club secretary’s listed address is in Udupi, but the show itself is in Mangalore. Plan for Mangalore, and use the secretary’s phone number for the venue and timings.

How early should I leave Karkala?

At about 45 km (approximate), this is the longest of the three shorter trips for this show. A day trip is still possible, but start early enough to reach the rings before the breeds you came for are judged. No timings are listed, so ask the secretary what time judging starts.

Make it a two-day trip?

Some families from Karkala may prefer to attend Saturday 21 November, stay in Mangalore, and return after Sunday 22 November. That is a personal choice and not a requirement. The listing does not say which breeds are judged on which day.

Should I enter my dog from Karkala?

Entry is through Karavali Canine Club, and the KCI listing sets out no entry rules. The closing date is not listed and may have passed. If you want to learn how a show works first, ask whether spectators are admitted and talk to handlers between classes.

Pre-trip checklist for Karkala visitors

• Where the show is held, because the club’s secretary is in Udupi and the show is in Mangalore
• The start time, since a trip of about 45 km (approximate) is easier to plan once you know it
• Whether you want one day or both days of the weekend
• A return time that does not depend on the last ring finishing

Travelling with someone from Moodbidri or Udupi?

Friends in Moodbidri (about 30 km from Mangalore) or Udupi (about 60 km) may be planning the same weekend. Their guides give the distances from their side, and the Udupi guide explains why the club’s Udupi address is not the venue.

How do I match a breed to my activity level?

A breed’s energy matters more than its looks. Before you choose, decide how many hours a day you can walk, train and play with a dog. Then use the breed guide to find breeds in that range. Karkala families with a yard and time to spare suit active working breeds. Smaller homes suit calmer dogs.

Which puppy questions should Karkala buyers ask?

Check the vaccination schedule with the breeder and keep the dates. A responsible breeder gives you the first vaccination records and a feeding plan when the puppy comes home. Browse KCI-registered puppies on Pupps & Stud, and book a consultant if you want a second opinion on the breed.

Do you breed dogs near Karkala?

Registering as a breeder on Pupps & Stud lets you list KCI-registered puppies from Karkala. Say which district you are in, because Karkala sits in Udupi district while the show is in Dakshina Kannada.
